(a) What is Integrative Health Coaching?
Integrative Health Coaching (IHC) is a client-centered, relational approach to working with individuals collaboratively to address the health and well-being of the whole person. It acknowledges the interdependent roles of mind, body, and spirit, and the innate healing capacity within each person, with an emphasis on self-care. An integrative health coach forms personal goals related to optimal health and wellness.
The program is based on many years of clinical experience & research. It promotes an understanding of the integrative health care model, develops effective health coaching skills for individuals and groups and enhances participants’ skill sets, knowledge, and professional marketability.
It is a thorough and practical course that offers the core foundational knowledge and understanding of evidence-based integrative health practices that had been demonstrated to enhance clients’ outcomes.
Role of the Health Coach:
- Help people clarify their health goals, implement & sustain behaviors, lifestyles, and attitudes that are conducive to optimum health.
- Guide people in their personal care and health maintenance.
- Assist people in reducing the negative impact of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes.
b) The Bridging Program
The Board of Integrative Medicine (BOIM) and The Board of Natural Medicine Doctors and Practitioners (BNMDP) in collaboration with the Canadian College of Humanitarian Medicine offers professional bridging courses in integrative Medicine geared towards, medical, dental and other healthcare practitioners who are seeking to expand their knowledge and expertise in the field of Integrative Medicine, Natural Medicine or for a new career path.
